NEW AIRLINE LUGGAGE LIMITS
Apr 30th, 2008 by Joan
As of May 5, 2008, only one checked bag will be allowed on domestic flights in the US. The maximum weight of this bag is 50lbs. Additional checked bags are $25 each, with the same 50lb. limit. Carry on weight limit is 40lbs. for one bag. You can visit individual airlines’ web sites for baggage dimensions. One ”personal item” carry on is also allowed (purse, briefcase, small backpack, computer case, etc.). Any liquid taken in a carry on bag must be in a 3 0z bottle (or less). All bottles containing liquids must fit into one quart size zip-loc type baggie.
United Airlines international flights have loosened the baggage weight restrictions. You may still check 2 bags, and each bag can now weigh a maximum of 70 lbs (up from 50 lbs). Carry on sizes and weights remain the same as domestic.
