Mike & Debby Edwards: Leipzig, Germany
Mike & Debby Edwards joined Fellowship Church in 1988. Mike served on the pastoral staff for 11 years beginning in 1993. He served in a variety of Adult Ministry areas, including Pastor of Small Groups, Executive Pastor, and Missions Pastor.
In 1999, while still on the staff at Fellowship, Mike & Debby jointly served the EFCA International Mission on the area leadership team of Central Europe. During that time the EFCA was strategically developing a partnering initiative in the former-Communist region in eastern Germany. The hope was to send a leader to live in that region to develop this initiative. The Edwards responded to that call and Fellowship Church sent them to Germany in 2003.
The EFCA partners with their sister organization in Germany, the FeG (Free evangelical Church of Germany). Mike & Debby live in Leipzig, Germany, the largest city outside of Berlin in the eastern region. They work alongside German pastors who have moved from West Germany to the mission-field of eastern Germany.
The Edwards’ work has three strategic tracks:
* New expression of church: helping to understand the kind of church that will reach East Germans, the next generation
* German-American church partnerships: envisioning, training, encouraging through church-to-church relationships
* Establishing a prayer foundation from the U.S. for spiritual awakening in eastern Germany.

* For opportunities for partnering churches: teams from the U.S., new churches interested in eastern Germany, prayer groups
* For vision and encouragement: strength against the pessimism and hopeless spirit of the region, wisdom to help churches be healthy and start new churches, a deeper understanding of the spiritual interest of the typical “East German”
* For provision: met required support levels, interest of new people and churches, fresh communication with existing support team (envisioning investment)
