Mexico
FEFC serves three ministries in Tijuana, Mexico.
The first two are an orphanage and a battered women’s shelter; Sara Gomez operates the former and her mom operates the latter. The third is a very special church at La Colonia, a community of people who have built their homes and community at Tijuana’s municipal dump. Pastor Albert Rivera is the pastor of the church at La Colonia. We’ve been in partnership with these three ministries for five years.
FEFC currently sends 75-100 people a year to serve these ministries in Tijuana. These trips provide much-needed encouragement and relationship for hundreds of Mexican families, and the manpower and skill for numerous brick and mortar projects. They also serve as introductory, and heart-transforming, missions trips for many FEFC students and adults. Finally, we also support Pastor Albert and Sara financially, and we raise money periodically to do things like help Pastor Albert purchase a building for the church at La Colonia, and for construction and repair projects for the orphanage and battered women’s shelter.
