Pastor Albert Rivera: Tijuana

Pastor Albert, originally from Puerto Rico, is the pastor of the Agape Mision Mundial church, which serves the families living at La Colonia, the community at the municipal dump for Tijuana, Mexico. Pastor Albert lives in Los Angeles, and commutes from there every week to serve his people at La Colonia. Each week, he personally transports about six tons of food (yes: twelve-thousand pounds) down to Tijuana, where it is used to supply the needs of Agape Mision Mundial. This little church also does a great deal of outreach to other churches in other areas of Tijuana that are characterized by the kind of poverty that is almost never encountered in the USA.

Fellowship has a profound relationship with Agape Mision Mundial. We’ve sent numerous short-term missions trips down to minister there, and have been ministered to in the process. In 2006, Agape Mision Mundial completed the purchase of their building, which was funded by Fellowship Church’s generous people, and are now engaged in major renovations: a new roof, new plumbing and bathrooms with showers, and other features like that, the kind that we take for granted here. This home base is already having a positive impact on ministry effectiveness, and will help to make the people of Agape Mision Mundial even more effective at reaching and serving their community with the life-transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
