Richard & Andrea Albury: The Bahamas
Richard was Fellowship’s Junior High youth pastor for two years. He and Andrea left in 1997 to return to Richard’s home country, The Bahamas. God had been calling Richard back home to start a Youth camp to reach the thousands of youth who live in the Bahamas. Most of these young people live in deep poverty.
Camp Bahamas hosts US missions groups that work in the communities near where the Alburys live. Our teams host VBS programs, day camps, sports outreaches, and community outreaches for Bahamian and Haitian children and youth. We repair and paint homes for widows and shut-ins.
We also reach out to the 180,000 young people who live on the 750 islands of the Bahamas. Most do not know the Lord. Camp Bahamas hosts Sports camps every summer to reach them. We use high-energy praise and worship, thrilling land and water sports and of course we present the life-transforming message of Christ. These youth see Christ in through loving counselors, God’s beautiful creation, and God’s Word.
We want every youth who comes to camp to be discipled throughout the school year. So we also do a lot of outreach to orphans, kids in schools, “at risk” youth and Government home youth. Each year we sponsor 20-25 orphans to come to camp at no cost to them.
